I caught the train to Paris and sat next to a lovely girl named Marie. She is French but she's getting her masters in Foreign Languages, so she's studying English, Spanish, Arabic, Hebrew, and ... oh, shoot. One other. A really impressive one. Anyhow, we discussed government structures and health care and I took a few little naps.
I left the Gare du Nord (train station) and walked down the street with a few cumbersome bags. I walked into the first hotel I saw and got a room. €45 for a bed and free wifi and a sink in my room and lovely double doors that look out on Paris, €5 for breakfast in the morning. And then I take a train to Rouen and get picked up at the train station. It is an adventure still.
Here's the lovely street view. I'm in Paris. WTF. I'm having some trouble getting used to the idea. I kind of feel like I'm in this dream world. Hillary, I went down the street (and didn't have my camera with me-- boo) and saw a Quick and thought of you. Missing being here with you!
I'm about to go to sleep and wake up at 7, I think. I hope. I'm not quite sure how to make sure I wake up as I don't have a cell phone or a clock -- I just have a wrist watch that will hopefully beep when I want it to. Maybe I'll see if they have wake up calls at the front desk. Yes, that is what I'll do.
Love love.
PS. Mom and everyone else who likes these things: I considered staying in a hostel tonight called "Peace and Love" but then I decided I couldn't because it's a party hostel. No thanks, man.
